Uruguayan conductor Andres Cladera, General and Artistic Director of Opera Steamboat and former Associate Conductor with Opera Colorado is a versatile and cultivated artist in both the operatic and symphonic worlds.
Maestro Cladera has conducted for Tulsa Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Opera San Antonio, Opera Colorado, Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Edgewood Symphony, Opera Steamboat, Chatham Baroque, and San Antonio Symphony. He holds a Master of Music degree from Carnegie Mellon University and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Piano and Voice Performance from the College of Charleston.
Cladera was lauded as Outstanding Young Conductor of the year by the Association of Choral Directors of America and was first-place winner in several international piano competitions, including the Luis Troccoli International Piano Competition and Luis Cluzeau Mortet Piano Competition. He also received a Young Artist Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera.
Recent engagements include Don Giovanni with Tulsa Opera, Rusalka with Opera Steamboat, and Ben Gulley in Concert with Dallas Opera. Upcoming: Frida with Portland Opera and The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat with Opera Steamboat.
