Insignia Athlone Artist Management is pleased to welcome industry leader Sean Kelly to its team representing the European roster. “Sean brings a wealth of vocal, operatic and symphonic knowledge to our team, along with long-time connections to the European market. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him as a Partner and Artist Manager” – said Co-founders Gloria Parker and Miguel Rodriguez.
Praised for his “assured music direction” and “musical and theatrical integrity”, Sean Kelly maintains an impressive international career as a conductor, pianist and vocal coach/repetiteur. His wide-ranging expertise has made him a valuable addition to the Metropolitan Opera, Seattle Opera, The Atlanta, Ft. Worth and Wolftrap Operas, as well as the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Teatro Comunale Francesco Cilea in Italy, and the Istanbul Opera Festival.
As Music Director of Brooklyn’s LoftOpera, Mr. Kelly garnered particular acclaim for his work in the Bel Canto and Verismo repertoire. Their productions of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory and Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia were all praised for their excellence and originality. These, as well as his work on Verdi’s Macbeth, won multiple New York press and broadcast awards, including Excellence in Opera for Conducting and Best Musical Comedy.
For the past five years Mr. Kelly was Head of Music and Chorusmaster at Opera Omaha, where his musical overview and elevation of ensemble performance raised the company’s level of recognition. The qualities he brought to that position are the same ones which make him a passionate educator and he has served on the faculties of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia and the Music Festival of Lucca.
Sean is based in Toulouse, France, and can be reached at sean@insigniaathlone.com.
